Sustainable Development
Bela
Vista has been working with Government agencies to understand,
formulate and implement a sustainable development
strategy. Bela Vista has the vision to be a world leader
in leaving nature as it was meant to be while using her to
produce for human consumption.
Harmony with Mother Nature. BV Natural Beef.
Reforestation
Bela Vista has made it a policy to retain 50% of all lands
in forest. Yes, BV has almost 20,000 acres of forest and
natural wetlands as part of the Bela Vista operation.
In
2002, Carla initiated what is known as the "30 meter
reforestation" policy at BV. Every pasture will be segregated
to the next pasture by a 30 meter space, then filled with
natural trees.
Over
30,000 trees will be planted in 2004 alone. This will come
at a great financial cost to the Company, but the long
term vision of BV and the family is beef production in
harmony with nature. Sustainable development is a big part
of the strategic vision for BV & its future.
